To answer your question, I think its because many white guys are intimitated by latina women and don't know how to approach them or they think they are too differen't from out culture so they don't go that way. | Usually in foreign ports the only guys who wear their crackerjacks are the Shore Patrol. You might get to wear them if you are going to some function like dinner at an ambassador's house. This is for safety reasons. In some cities, the uniform makes you a target for robbers, terrorists, etc. Usually, the standard liberty uniform overseas is civilian clothes consisting of a collared shirt, pants (some commands allow jeans if they are not faded or have holes in them). They usually don't allow t-shirts with slogans or writing on them, cowboy hats, or ball caps. When you are in a United States port (Miami, New York City, etc) you are encouraged to wear the uniform out on the town. It sets you apart and you can usually get discounts on food and drink. Keep in mind though that dry cleaning can get expensive so be careful of where you wear it especially the summer whites which are magnets for dirt. Also, when you go to some of these cities there are parts you don't want to go into wearing a dress uniform as you will basically be saying "I am out on the town and I have money, feel free to rob me or con me out of it". The Crackerjacks are a winter uniform. They are usually worn during the months of September-April. Whites are worn from April-September. I hope you don't think I am discouraging you from wearing the uniform. I was very proud of my uniform when I was in and wore it proudly but after you are in the Navy for awhile you will relish the opportunity to go out in civilian clothes especially in the summer because the whites get dirty easily just walking around. |
